 नायर रुग्णालयामध्ये १६४८ परिचारिकांचा तुटवडा असल्याने सेवेत असलेल्या परिचरिकांवर कामाचा प्रचंड ताण पडत आहे. सध्या कोरोनाची आणि ओमायक्रॉंनच्या रुग्णांची संख्या झपाट्याने वाढू लागल्याने या रुग्णालयात परीचारकांची तातडीने भरती करण्याची मागणी दि म्युनिसिपल युनियनने केली आहे.

परिचारिकांना कामाचा ताण उचलण्यास भाग पाडले जात आहे. याचा विपरीत परिणाम परिचारिकांच्या मानसिक व शारीरिक आरोग्यावर तर होत आहेच, त्याशिवाय रुग्णसेवेवरही होत आहे, असेही बने यांनी म्हटले आहे. १०० हून अधिक संख्या असलेल्या रुग्णांसाठी एक किंवा दोन परिचारिका नेमल्याने रुग्णांना मिळणाऱ्या आरोग्य सेवेवर विपरीत परिणाम होत आहे.

महापालिकेने सध्या केवळ ६८८ पदे मंजूर केली आहेत. म्हणजेच प्रत्येक दोन परिचारिकांना ५ परिचारिकांचा कामाचा ताण पडत आहे. या रुग्णालयामध्ये १६४८ परिचारिकांचा तुटवडा आहे. नायर रुग्णालयाप्रमाणे केईएम, सायन, कुपर, शताब्दी, भाभा, राजावाडी आणि इतर रुग्णालयांमध्ये तशीच अवस्था आहे. गेल्या काही वर्षांमध्ये मुंबईची लोकसंख्या दुप्पटीहून अधिक प्रमाणात वाढली आहे.

१०० हून अधिक संख्या असलेल्या रुग्णांसाठी एक किंवा दोन परिचारिका नेमल्याने रुग्णांना मिळणाऱ्या आरोग्य सेवेवर विपरीत परिणाम होत आहे. नर्सिंग कौन्सिलच्या मार्गदर्शक तत्त्वानुसार परिचारिकांची पदे निर्माण करावीत आणि तातडीने मुंबई महापालिकेत परिचारिकांची भरती करावी, अशी मागणी बने यांनी केली आहे.
